da bet sport: As reported by The Daily Record, Rangers prospect Ross McCrorie has opened up on his introduction into the Light Blues’ first team and insisted he won’t let any of the praise coming his way go to his head.
What’s the story?
da pinnacle: After impressive showings against Partick Thistle and Celtic, McCrorie had attracted high praise from his manager Pedro Caixinha, who said that he could become ‘one of the best centre-halves in history, not just for this club but for this country’.
Fans too have been pleased with his progress so far, despite a less than stellar performance away to Hamilton before the international break.
Despite the media spotlight being on him and the praise coming his way, the young defender has promised he won’t let it go to his head, believing he still has plenty of improving to do.
As quoted by The Daily Record, the teenager said:
Even after the Old Firm game, I didn’t let it get to me. I didn’t get too hyped up or anything and I think that helped me. Mabye other boys would get carried away and let it go to their heads but I try not to. I’ll stay humble and work hard. After every game I always remember the mistakes I made, that’s what stays in my mind. I just want to look back at it and sort it out. Even when I play well, it’s the mistakes I remember most.
It’s the kind of attitude Rangers fans will love to hear and should serve his development well.
His future
The for the defender now will be retaining his place in the side as players return from injury. He only got his opportunity due to the likes of Bruno Alves and Danny Wilson being sidelined and if he can keep those two, or Fabio Cardoso, out of the team he’ll be doing well.
Playing alongside Alves could in fact be the best thing for his development with the Portuguese legend having achieved almost everything there is to achieve for club and country.
With U21 matches for Scotland also coming up, he has a busy schedule and it’ll be interesting to see if he can continue his upward trajectory.
