da supremo: Out of nowhere, Manchester United seem destined to land Paul Pogba this summer.
da brdice: He has attracted the interest of every top European club in the world in recent years; and after months of speculation it looks like Manchester United may land his coveted signature.
He will, of course, become the landmark signing of the summer, with his transfer likely carrying a ‘world record fee’ tag along with it.
We don’t expect the spending to stop there however; with the club still being linked with a number of top players.
Mourinho is certainly not taking his Manchester United revolution lightly, with even more players seemingly in the pipeline.
Here are FIVE players that might follow Paul Pogba to Manchester United…
Hirving Lonzano
Starting off with an unknown name in Britain, Hirving Lonzano has been linked with a move to the Manchester giants for a number of months.
The Mexican midfielder is a technical gifted, versatile attacking midfielder; and at just 20 years old possesses enough potential to become a future star with United.
He posses over 100 caps despite his tender years, and looks set for a big money move in the very near future; with Manchester United reportedly keen on a move for the youngster this summer.
Mourinho is typically not a fan of signing younger players unless he sees an immediate future at the club for them; which bodes well for young Lonzano. If United manage to capture him, expect him to be involved in the United first team next season.
Blaise Matuidi
Blaise Matuidi is another player that has been consistently linked with a move abroad this summer, with Manchester United frequently touted as a potential destination.
The experienced defensive midfielder would add defensive prowess and stability to any midfield, and with the middle of the park being a particular weak spot for United last year; Matuidi could be a perfect fit.
Even more exciting about this transfer is how he could fit into the United side next season. ESPN are reporting that United hope to tie up the deals for Matuidi and Paul Pogba in the coming days; producing what some are calling a dream midfield pairing going into next season.
With Matuidi seemingly interested in a move away from PSG this summer, this transfer has all the makings of a deal that might happen.
Nemanja Matic
If Matuidi proves unavailable, rumours have also linked Jose Mourinho with a move for his old Chelsea stalwart Nemanja Matic.
Despite a poor season last year, Matic proved in his opening year with The Blues how good he is, and played some of his best football under the management of Mourinho.
The Daily Star are reporting that the pair are keen on linking up again, and with Chelsea reportedly willing to give up their midfielder; this transfer seems to make sense.
Like Matuidi, a midfield of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic would be unstoppable in the Premier League next season.
Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata has been at the centre of a number of transfer rumours this summer, with the newspapers linking the Spanish forward with an imminent move to the Premier League.
The pacey striker had a hugely impressive season with Juventus last year, improving on his game significantly since leaving Real Madrid several years ago.
He completed a buy-back transfer to Real Madrid last week, and with the striker seemingly surplus to requirements at the club; the door is now seemingly open for a move away from the club almost immediately
United will have to compete with a number of Premier League clubs for the Spaniard’s signature, but Jose Mourinho may be enough to tempt the talented striker to Manchester.
Joao Mario
Joao Mario is a player that has emerged as a target in recent weeks, after impressing for Portugal in their European Championship winning campaign this summer.
The 23 year old midfielder currently plies his trade in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon, where he has cemented his place in the clubs first team.
Mario has been a standout in the Portugal team over the last few weeks, attracting the praise of the European media for his commanding performances.
He has refused to deny claims that he had been in contact with Jose Mourinho, leaving many to speculate that a transfer may be on the cards.
What seems clear is that United are interested in the Portugal man; however it remains to be seen whether the deal will go through, given that a £45 million price tag has been slapped on the back of the Sporting maestro.
