Arsenal fans will be wondering if they are going to sign anyone to replace outgoing midfielder Aaron Ramsey this summer, and the following ones on Twitter have identified Ajax’s Donny van de Beek as his successor following his latest display.
The 21-year-old started for the Dutch giants in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie against Juventus in Amsterdam on Wednesday night, and he impressed.
Able to play in a variety of midfield roles, the Netherlands international isn’t a player that simply opts for the simply sideways pass – he always looks to provide an incisive one to help his team in an attacking sense whether he is playing in a No.6, No.8 or even a No.10 role.
Van de Beek also got himself into plenty of promising goalscoring situations and probably should have got himself a goal against the Serie A leaders at the Amsterdam Arena – something he needs to improve on to reach the next level perhaps.
That said, his record of 14 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions this term isn’t to be sniffed at and shows that he has the ability to match Ramsey’s stats from previous years for the Gunners.
