da betsson: After taking a total of nine points from their opening six league fixtures, Tottenham Hotspur and Mauricio Pochettino haven’t exactly started the 2015/16 Premier League campaign under the greatest set of circumstances. Whilst Spurs have by no means been terrible, the overall level of performance offered up from their players has been rather mediocre to say the very least.
da imperador bet: However, now that South Korean World Cup representative – Heung-Min Son – has seemingly settled down at White Hart Lane with a couple of well taken goals already under his belt, Tottenham’s chances this term all of a sudden look a great deal brighter.
It may have taken over £20 million to bring the highly coveted front-man to North London, but at the decent age of only 23, Son could potentially work wonders in Spurs colours for a good few seasons to come.
So then, although it certainly remains early days for the up and coming young striker in the Premier League at the moment, just how much of a coup will Son ultimately prove for Tottenham Hotspur?
Well, in light of Son’s impressive start to life among the English top-flight, the White Hart Lane faithful most definitely have reason to be excited in regards to their club’s latest acquisition. The former Bundesliga favourite – who wowed fans in Germany whilst playing for both Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen – brings a certain level of potential to the Premier League that most genuine football fans would love to witness, regardless of their original allegiances.
Whilst he may not arrive as an out-in-out world class talent in this early stage of his career, Heung-Min Son possesses a few exciting striking traits that are bound to captivate the White Hart Lane faithful one way or another. Both in regards to close range finishing in and around the opposition’s penalty area, as well as when taking on successful long-shots from outside the box – this well-measured striking talent often proves impressively efficient.
As he scored a very promising 17 goals in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen last season, it’s clear that the South Korean hero has that all-important striker’s instinct about him. However, while most natural born finishers often prove somewhat disappointing when it comes to sheer technical ability with the ball at their feet, the same just can’t be said about Heung-Min Son. In quite unique fashion, the former Bundesliga star is able to marry his traditional duties as a designated front-man, with the knack of playing the ball nicely among his team-mates and assist when his side need it most.
Son is therefore just as much of a creator as he is a finisher, which will surely delight Spurs fans who have grown somewhat frustrated with their side’s lack of cutting edge in the final third so far this season. The 23-year-old attacker’s recent arrival at White Hart Lane will surely allow Harry Kane to finally find his scoring boots for 2015/16 – offering a well-placed partner to work off of in the final third, as well as someone willing to draw defenders away from the team’s out-in-out centre-forward.
Tottenham have spent a fair amount on signing their latest marquee capture however, so if Heung-Min Son does in-fact prove a smashing hit this season, his triumphant form simply can’t be met with a great deal of surprise. Yet if the £21.9 million man eventually turns out a flop in the Premier League – in line with many other big name foreign signings that have dramatically failed before him at Spurs – then perhaps a greater problem may be afflicting the club’s overall transfer policy in general.
As such a destructive outcome ultimately seems very unlikely to take place for everyone involved in this particular deal though, Tottenham fans must nonetheless greet their recent signing with as much positivity as possible. If he continues his fine form among the English top-flight, as he has done so far in the Premier League this season, there is absolutely no reason why Heung-Min Son can’t go all the way to the top with Spurs eventually.
So, whilst it would in-fact seem a tad premature to get too overexcited about the prospect of Son banging in the goals for Tottenham this term – at this stage in the game – the signs on offer look very promising indeed.
