Joel Ward was partially to blame for the goal conceded in the 1-0 loss, but it was the performance of striker Christian Benteke that took the annoyance of some Palace fans.
The Belgian struggled to get into the game and as a result, was slated by supporters on Twitter who didn’t take too kindly to his efforts throughout the time he was on the field.
One individual went as far as saying Gary Cahill would be a better forward than Benteke as he was also labelled as lazy by one fan.
The 28-year-old was isolated for large parts of the encounter, even making one supporter disclose his sadness at the forward. The former Liverpool man was told to sort it by a further frustrated member of the Selhurst Park faithful.
Benteke scored just once for Palace last season, netting against Arsenal. His form doesn’t look like improving either.
Against the Blades, he had just one shot, finishing the game with a woeful pass completion rate of 61.9%.
