The Estonian defender played 53 times for Liverpool before being sold to Cagliari last summer, which means he spent six months playing alongside van Dijk, although the two only started as a centre-back pair twice – against Stoke and West Brom.
However, they were part of the same squad which reached the Champions League final in 2018 and from their embrace it is clear they enjoyed playing with each other.
